The Government Eases Mining Ban

We’re starting Monday with good news:
The mining ban has been eased
The Russian Government has softened restrictions on cryptocurrency mining in certain regions.
Mining is now allowed — under one key condition:
📌 Electricity used for mining must not be sourced from the Unified Energy System of Russia.

As of March 21, 2025, in accordance with Government Decree No. 341, mining digital currencies (including via mining pools) is permitted in certain territories where a full ban was previously in effect, provided that:
  1. The power-receiving equipment is not connected to the Unified Energy System of the Russian Federation or to territorially isolated power systems, and
  2. There is official confirmation from one of the following entities:
  • The Unified Energy System operator (e.g., "FSK EES"),
  • A system-forming regional grid operator,
  • The system operator of Russia’s power systems.
Only an entity listed in the official register of miners can obtain such confirmation.
💡 If you're planning to launch mining operations in a restricted area using your own power generation (e.g., diesel or gas power plants), this presents a legitimate path to legalize your activity.
📍Reminder: As of January 1, 2025, a complete mining ban is in place in 10 regions, including the Republic of Dagestan, Irkutsk Oblast, and the Republic of Ingushetia.
